New York

Recently read a New York blog and now am pining more than ever to be 'over the pond'. In fact, being anywhere other than England would be great right now. I'm aware that it's quite a big place (as places go) but I'm feeling a bit claustrophobic and cabin-feverish from being in this country so long. Well, I've been to Switzerland twice this year but I still have a craving for the wider world. Running away to Paris is beginning to sound more like a reasonable plan now than ever...
So here are my pictures from my visit to New York, which was quite a while ago now but I don't hate/feel embarrassed by them yet so here you go (although I may have a W H Auden moment and decide to remove it all from the face of the Earth at some point in the future).

For those who fantasise...

I really recommend this exhibition in Kensington: Enchanted Palace

[Sorry about the limited photos, it doesn't really capture the experience at all, but you're not actually allowed to take them]

A bit of Shakespearian Neckwear

I decided that I needed a ruff. I have a ridiculous amount of paper-cuts right now.

I found one in NY.

Hats

I like them.

[Amelia Horgan Photography]

I bought some new ones.

I also found all these flags (can't really see scale so bear in mind the largest Union Flag is about 4 times my size).

Paper Eaters

If you find yourself wandering around Oxford Street and begin to feel that our materialistic society is bleaching your soul of culture, head for the Ultralounge in Selfridges for something more uplifting...

Contemporary artists The Girls have made it into a veritable craft-fest. And as much as I am loathe to admit it (I despise 'craft') this is pretty noice.

Due to neon backlighting these pics are not amazing quality but you get the idea.

Black Tie and the Thames

The best thing about being South of the river is the view of the North-side.
